Last week a bunch of us took the Chrome Van up to Seattle Washington to film for the second installment of Can’t Fool The Youth. We were lucky enough to stay at Steven Jensen and Zlog’s house so we didn’t have to sleep in the back of the van. We had such a good time w/ Jensen while we were there, that he decided to say fuck it, and come back w/ us to San Jose. He’ll be staying w/ Ed + Mike while he’s here, so if you see him rolling around down town San Jose, be sure to holler.
Here’s a look at the 2013 Specialized PFIX. I’ve been helping Specialized develop this bike for the last 2 years now, and have been there since the beginning of it’s creation. It has the same geo as last years model, but comes equipped w/ improved parts + components. We gave it a new chainring, top load stem, rims, and a better saddle for starters. We’ll be developing an updated geo midway through the year, so keep your eyes peeled for pictures of that coming soon. It’s available now at iMiNUSD and other Specialized dealers.
Jeff Dempler says a fond farewell to Specialized as he makes the leap to join another bike team that is TBA. This is his final edit riding the bike we’ve been such a huge part of for the last 2 years. I can’t wait to see what he does from here.
Here’s a 2nd look at Devon Lawson’s Grime Ghost build. He’s been riding it for nearly a week now, but you’d never be able to tell because he looks as comfortable as ever on the bike. I can’t wait to see the rest of The Grime rollin’ around on these beasts. Head over to iMiNUSD to place a pre-order, and secure yourself one of these steeds.
Mike Schmitt popped off this photo of my doing a little rock climbing (wall tap 180) in Golden Gate just before we discovered that they gutted the dirt jumps hidden deep in the park. With more and more spots being torn out, we’re going to have to take matters into our own hands and start making our own. Time to go buy some quickcrete + shovels, and find a decent location to build.
This weekend Mike Schmitt and I went to go ride the dirt jumps hidden in Golden Gate Park, only to find that the city had completely gutted the place. Leveling everything in their path, leaving behind nothing but a couple of signs telling us to turn around and fuck off. It’s always a shame to see a spot go, especially one as sacred as this. We will rebuild, despite the city’s destructive ways.
I’m sure most of you have already seen pictures of the new Frame from The Grime floating around the internet. Here’s a photo that I took of Devon Lawson‘s Ghost build while he stayed at my pad in SF over the weekend. I had the chance to ride around on it for a bit, and decided it doesn’t feel much different from the G.O.A.T. Other than the fact that the seat + top tube are a lot more out of the way. I’ll have additional photos of the bike up by tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for those. SIZE | MEDIUM
Here’s a relatively old shot of Kenny Arimoto racking a double peg down this 17 stair hand rail that we came across in South San Francisco. Kenny has been out from an injury he took at this years Ride + Style, and only recently started riding tough again. It’s good to see him back on a bike charging at shit.
