Before the official release of Word Is Bond we hosted 2 premieres in California. One at Lower Branch Art Gallery in San Francisco, and the second at iMiNUSD in San Jose. We met up with some of the locals in SJ & cruised around from spot to spot. Thanks for everyone who came out to ride and hang out.
I carry my 35mm camera around with me everywhere I go and do most of my shooting as I ride around San Francisco. I’ve been most interested in capturing the sea of changes that SF is currently undergoing. There’s been an increased amount of construction and demolitions going on around the city and I’ve been hellbent on shooting every bit of it. Seitaro Iki shot this photo of Ed Wonka muscling out a tooth hangover while we wrapped up filming for the new Turf Bikes video. If you’ve seen Word Is Bond, then I’m sure you’ll recognize this shot from the last clip in his section. Ed hangovers rails that few would even attempt, and has no problems blasting through even the deadliest of kinks. Which is why I consider tooths to be Ed’s signature move. After nearly a year of filming with the Turf Mob we’re proud to introduce our first video as a team, “Word Is Bond”. We spent most of 2013 filming across the US, with riders from all over the world. Thank you to everyone who helped film, drive, watch for security, buy snacks, and come out to ride. This video wouldn’t haven been possible without you.
Given the fact that we shoot most of our stills on 35mm film, the TURF Sundaze posts are always about a week behind. Last Sunday we roamed around Oakland with Egg The Dog, a regular addition to The Mob. He’s either strapped to Mike’s back or running along side us as we lurked from spot to spot. With only hours left on the clock until we release “Word Is Bond”, we decided to give you a final taste of what’s to come. Here’s a bunch of screen shots from the Friends Section in the video. We’ve been gearing up for the release of Word Is Bond for quite some time now and have never generated this type of hype for a free online video before. Usually the only videos that have premiere’s are DVD’s, but considering the amount of time we spent making this monumental video, we decided to make an exception.
